No visit to the Costa Blanca is complete without a trip to its jewel in the crown, Guadalest. This fortified village perched precariously on a mountain top, is surrounded by some of the highest points in the province of Alicante, the Sierra Aixorta, Sierra Aitana and Sierra Serrella. Enjoy around three hours of free time to explore this beautiful town. This shared guided tour has a duration of 5 hours.

The village of Guadalest dates back over a 1000 years and is steeped in history, from the prison and dungeon built in the 12th century to the old washing house used by the local women and has just over 200 inhabitants. Guadalest is probably as well known not only for the symbolic castle but also for the reservoir which serves all main surrounding towns including Benidorm with their water.

Day Trip To Guadalest from Benidorm

Booked this trip for for self & wife over the internet prior to getting to Benidorm. As I was booking on the web I wasn't sure which pick up location to choose closest to my hotel (RH Corona Del Mar). Quick email to round town travel and I received a reply from Lee within a couple of hours - Pick up location 8 minute walk away - Pick up time was 10.25 am, coach arrived at 10.30 no complaints there as we were last to be picked up - Sandra the tour guide was great company, good humoured and knowledgeable about our trip, she explained what would be happening and how the itinerary was to be. Discounted admission to the museums could be purchased as could a meal deal in one of the local bars - no sales pressure at all - if you wanted them happy days - if not happy days! Guadalest itself is a lovely place to visit, lots of local shops selling a vast range of gifts, produce and souvenirs - the museums are worth a visit and the walk to the top is more than worth it for the views. After free time in Guadalest (3 hours) the return trip through the mountains via the scenic route to the transport museum and shop was next - Excellent stop off point - didn't use the museum but the shop is worth the visit - lots of local produce and you get to taste the local wine for free! (assisted enthusiastically by Sandra!!) We got back to benidorm about 4.30 all in all a great day out - Thanks to Sandra for her great company and welcoming enthusiasm, and to Jesus the coach driver who delivered us all safely up the mountain roads and back again! A great Day Out
